JAMB prohibits parents from attending UTME examinations.

PIshaq Oloyede, Registrar of the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB), has directed that all CBT Centres across the country no longer allow parents/guardians into the registration hall. This was stated in a statement signed by Hassan Lawal, JAMB's Spokesman in Ilorin.

According to the registrar, the board made the decision after conducting a routine inspection of some of the overcrowded registration centers in Kwara. Parents and guardians were accused of being a distraction to both candidates and centers while also congesting the halls by failing to follow the COVID – 19 protocols.

Oloyede also advised parents/guardians to refrain from rushing their children's education any further than necessary, as 14 or 15-year-olds are considered too young to begin the process of registration and university pressure.

He also urged state Ministries of Education and other stakeholders charged with enrolling students in secondary schools to always confirm the students' true age before admitting them to secondary school.
